Ostrich: The Other Dark Meat

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Rob came into Manhattan for a conference last Monday. We haven’t seen each other since he married Robyn and I. Rob, his buddy Steve and I went to Bann – a Korean/Fusion restaurant on 50th between 8th and 9th.

Lots to rave about this place, but we were all most surprised by the dish Rob ordered: Ta Jo – farm raised ostrich barbeque.

Ostrich Sake

None of us had tried ostrich before, and it turned out to be quite a treat. Check it out in the first pic above. To me, it was like Kobe beef with a slight gamey aftertaste. Nothing off-putting at all. I might have mistaken it for a very lean beef in a blind taste test.

Also very good was the Meibo Yowano Tsuki (Midnight Moon) sake in the other pic. Had a light lychee/melon taste when it was at the right temperature.

In DC Next Week

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

I’ll be in the DC / Arlington area next week for work. If anyone’s around during that time and wants to meet up for dinner or something, let me know.

I’m arriving Monday around noon and leaving Friday afternoon.

Every picture taken in San Diego looks like it should be in Travel Magazine.

It’s just too bad we were there really only for a day. Check out all the pics here. Thanks to Miguel, Veronica and Suzie for a wonderful time.

In LA and San Diego in September

Monday, August 28th, 2006

I’ll be out at CTIA: Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2006 September 11-16.  While I’m there, Robyn will be visiting her family from the 13th till the 16th in Loma Linda (and vicinity).

Then Robyn and I will be driving down to San Diego for Ben & Jennie’s Wedding on the 17th and flying back out of LAX on the 18th.

I should have some nights free that week if anyone wants to meet up out there.

Ferry Sunset

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Here are some pics I took on my way back from Boston a couple weeks ago. They were from the Cross Sound Ferry from New London to Orient Point, which I really love taking in the summer.
